I was pretty sure I had seen every single one of fashion icon Audrey Hepburn “parisian” movies, but as it happens I had failed to watch Paris when it sizzles until now. Now I can see why it’s not her most famous : even Hepburn has shot in “so-so” movies. OK, maybe I’m exagerating there, but with its sketch-like scenes _ a writer and his secretary attempt to write a film scenario in three days _ and hectic plot, I found the movie pretty forgettable (plus, what with Hepburn always falling for much older men? annoying). Anyway, it doesn’t matter at all! The stylish movies section is not so much about cinema than it is about the outfits, and here especially those designed for Hepburn by Hubert de Givenchy. Now let’s see…<\/p>\n Sequined and fringed bathing suit! Need I say more?<\/p>\n Woolen skirt suit and wihite suitcases : Gabrielle is a prim young secretary, who can apparently afford Givenchy clothing.<\/p>\n That material seems quite thick for Paris in July – but look at this cute round hat!<\/p>\n Well, I guess that’s what you would call contrast.<\/p>\n Hey! Dietrich in colors (and in white).<\/p>\n Wearing a summer dress with a high collar, fictional Gabrielle looks just as prim as the “real” one.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Unless..? Yes, that’s a nice draped neckline in the back!<\/p>\n Hey look, it’s Tony Curtis!<\/p>\n Don’t you think that with its big pleat and pockets, this skirt looks as if Gabrielle wore\u00a0it backwards?<\/p>\n An Amelia Earhart moment : a timeless look.<\/p>\n One of Rick’s cardigans. He seems to favor white, textured cozy knits.<\/p>\n Look at that hair! So big, so round, so smooth!<\/p>\n Coziness doesn’t seem to matter so much to Gabrielle, come night time… Were women in the sixties this spectacular<\/a>?<\/p>\n Gabrielle’s style relies on structured clothes such as this dress.\u00a0Still pretty warm for Paris in July, I’m afraid.<\/p>\n Still, super pretty dress.<\/p>\n Embroidered slippers! How nice!<\/p>\n I’m less than keen on this loose-weaved knitted top, though. Was this really considered flattering?<\/p>\n Close-up on the back neckline. I approve<\/a>, of course.<\/p>\n Typical Hollywood bubble bath, craziest French poodle hairdo.<\/p>\n Nice pointy hat, Audrey! Is it to match the Eiffel Tower? She definitely has the weirdest hairdos in this movie…<\/p>\n This being said, I love this graphic black and white dress _ I’m pretty sure it would be a lovely evening dress with, say, a low bun.<\/p>\n Back to the “original” Gabrielle and her prim, structured Givenchy dresses. She wears, of course, white gloves, and her dress matches her clutch and this curious little boxy bow perched on top of her giant bun.
